Find Delta County Released Inmates

Delta County released inmates do not appear in an official county release archive, so a useful search starts with the agency that last held the person. To search for Delta County released inmates, match the name to county jail records, Michigan corrections records, court events, or a federal custody system. Delta County released inmates may have returned to the community, entered supervision, or moved to another agency. Each result answers a different question. The strongest confirmation pairs the legal event with the actual custody exit and, when needed, the next agency or supervising office.

Delta County Release Record Basics

A Delta County release record marks the end of one stay with one custodial agency. It is not the same as a live jail entry, a court order that permits release, or a date that predicts release. The court may supply the legal cause, while the Delta County Sheriff's Office records the actual exit from the jail. A receiving agency or a supervision record then shows what came next.

That last point matters. A person can leave the Delta County Correctional Facility and return to the community after bond, time served, dismissal, acquittal, probation, or another court order. The same person can also leave because of a transfer to the Michigan Department of Corrections, another county, federal custody, or immigration custody. Both events end the local jail stay. Only the first group clearly describes a community release.

Important: Delta County publishes no official online roster or recent-release archive. Absence from a county web list cannot prove release.

Delta County Release Types

The release label points to the next record. Bond leaves the criminal case open. Time served or sentence completion ends the jail term, subject to any other hold. Probation places the person in the community under a court sentence. Parole follows a state-prison term and keeps the person under MDOC supervision. A transfer means custody continues elsewhere.

Bond or recognizance
The court record shows the authority, while the Sheriff's release entry confirms the person actually left the jail.
Time served or completed sentence
The judgment states the term. The jail record supplies the actual exit and any recorded disposition.
Probation
The court and OTIS may show community supervision, though the jail record is still needed to confirm the local custody exit.
Parole
OTIS Date Paroled can show the prison exit. The person remains under MDOC authority until discharge.
Transfer
The Delta County stay ended, but MDOC, another county, BOP, USMS, or ICE may hold the person next.

Dismissal or acquittal supplies another legal basis for release, but neither event erases the booking record by itself. A second case, warrant, or detainer can also prevent a community exit. For that reason, the signed court event and the custody record should be read together.

Note: “Discharge” has a precise MDOC meaning, but a local record may use a different code that the county has not published.

Delta County Release Record Fields

Delta County does not publish a field dictionary for its jail system. A narrowly framed public-record request can still identify the existing fields needed to trace one stay. Ask for the person's recorded name, a known booking or case number, and a tight date range. This helps the county locate the record without asking staff to create a new report.

Field to requestWhat it may show
Recorded identity and booking numberConnects the release entry to the correct admission.
Admission date and timeDefines the custodial episode being checked.
Actual release date and timeRecords when the Sheriff's custody ended.
Release disposition or authorityMay identify bond, time served, dismissal, sentence completion, court order, or transfer.
Releasing or receiving agencyShows whether custody ended in the community or continued elsewhere, if recorded.
Charges, bond, and case identifiersLinks the jail stay to the court trail.
Release order or jail-log entrySupplies the underlying document when the county holds it.
Booking photographShows appearance at admission, not present custody, guilt, or current appearance.

These are requested fields, not a promise that every Delta County record uses each label or that every part is public. Ask for native electronic files and reasonably separable nonexempt portions if some content must be withheld.

Request Delta County Release Records

The Delta County FOIA portal provides the request form, public summary, and procedures. The form can be used for an ordinary or certified copy, inspection, or a subscription. Delivery choices include pickup, mail, email, requester-made copies, or county-supplied digital media.

The captured portal directs a released-person request to the official county process instead of an unofficial search page.

  1. Identify the person, the approximate booking period, and any known case or booking number.
  2. Describe existing records that show admission, actual release, disposition, receiving agency, linked court identifiers, and any booking photograph sought.
  3. Put “FOIA” or “FOIA Request” in the email subject or fax cover. Request native electronic delivery and separable nonexempt portions.
  4. Send the request by email, mail, fax, or in person. Keep a copy and the date sent.
  5. Review the written response, cost estimate, extension notice, partial grant, or denial. Ask the custodian about any unclear release code.

Michigan FOIA calls for a response within five business days. The county may grant, deny, grant in part, or issue notice of a ten-business-day extension. Allowed charges can include search, review, redaction, copying, media, and mailing. The research found no fixed price for a Delta County release record, so ask for an estimate if cost matters.

Delta County Release Record Law

Michigan's Freedom of Information Act guidance explains the right to inspect or copy nonexempt public records. The statute is MCL 15.231 et seq. A request must describe the record well enough for the public body to find it. Exempt material may be redacted, but reasonably separable nonexempt material should be disclosed.

Limits can apply to personal privacy, safety, active law-enforcement work, juvenile matters, and records made nonpublic by law. Bay Pines Center youth records belong in authorized court, counsel, and MDHHS channels, not adult inmate searches. Delta's rule that written FOIA requests are kept at least one year concerns the request itself, not the retention period for the jail's underlying booking or release record.

Michigan's official FOIA handbook cites Patterson v Allegan County Sheriff for the rule that a jail booking photograph is a public record subject to disclosure. The photograph still records admission, not release. It also does not override a later set-aside, sealing rule, or case-specific exemption.

Note: Request the official record from its custodian, because a court screen, VINE alert, or search result may not be the durable document.

Bond Release in Delta County

Delta County has two distinct bond-payment routes. The official posting-bond instructions direct third-party bonds to 94th District Court at 310 Ludington Street during weekday hours from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sheriff-processed bond payments go through the Canteen kiosk in the Sheriff's lobby, which is open 24 hours.

Delta County bond release payment instructions

The county instructions show why the type of bond determines where payment begins, but they do not supply a promised release time.

The lobby kiosk accepts cash bills and Mastercard or Visa debit and credit cards. It does not accept coins, checks, or money orders. The Sheriff cannot make change, vendor fees vary, and an overpayment goes to the inmate account. Payment starts the legal and administrative process. It does not prove physical exit, resolve another hold, or establish when Delta County release processing will finish.

Can a bond receipt prove release? No. Pair the bond event with the Delta County jail's actual release entry or direct agency confirmation.

Getting Home After Delta County Release

The research found no official Delta County statement about a release door, family waiting point, routine release hour, or transport timed to discharge. Call the Delta County Correctional Facility before a trip. A person planning a ride should not infer pickup rules from the jail's visitation or intake information.

Delta Area Transit Authority schedules county transportation at 906-786-1186. Its Escanaba intermodal center also connects with Indian Trails service. No official source says DATA stops at the jail or coordinates with release processing, so both DATA and the jail should be called before making a plan.

Exact timing can depend on the court order, identity and record checks, another warrant or hold, and the Sheriff's administrative work. Delta County publishes no estimate for that interval. The safe sequence is to confirm that the release was recorded, ask where pickup is permitted, and then confirm the ride.

Delta County Release Property Questions

The correctional-facility page explains some incoming items, including clothing for work or school release and limited medical-item dropoff. It does not publish an outgoing property process, an ID-return rule, a gate-money policy, or a release-record correction route. Those gaps should remain clear.

Questions about property or identification held by the jail go to the Delta County Correctional Facility. A question about the recorded local release calls for the Delta FOIA route. An OTIS court-data error should be taken to the sentencing court, while an MDOC supervision or absconder-status issue belongs with the supervising office. A focused correction request should name the exact field, explain the believed error, attach an authoritative document, and state the correction or note sought.

Find Delta County Released Inmates

A named-person search begins with the last known custody class. Delta County has no web roster to widen and no release archive to filter. Use the live tools for discovery, then move to the record custodian for proof.

  1. Search the person in MI-VINE through VINELink, select Michigan, and confirm the reporting agency. Then call the jail at 906-786-3633.
  2. Check MiCOURT. Use 94th District Court for misdemeanors, bond events, first appearances, and preliminary examinations. Use 47th Circuit Court for a felony after bindover.
  3. If the person entered state prison or state supervision, search MDOC OTIS by last name or MDOC number. Read status before reading dates.
  4. For parole or probation, note the supervising office in OTIS and verify with the Delta County Parole/Probation Office at 906-786-6568.
  5. For federal custody, use the BOP locator. For immigration custody, use ICE ODLS. Each result speaks only for that agency.
  6. When an online result is absent or durable proof is needed, request the Sheriff's release or transfer entry and the relevant court order.

MI-VINE can send custody-change notices for a person found under a participating agency. A released or out-of-custody result shows exit from that reporting agency, not freedom from every authority. No result is also inconclusive. Names, aliases, delay, transfers, agency participation, and exact-match behavior can all affect discovery.

Note: A state registry search applies only to people required to register and is not a general Delta County release lookup.

Delta County Recent Release Limits

As of the research date, the official Sheriff and correctional-facility pages showed no current roster, booking list, released-person view, 24-hour list, 72-hour list, booking archive, or photo gallery. There is no official online window, feed field set, update schedule, retention period, or photo policy to report.

For a same-day question, check MI-VINE for the named person, call the jail, review the matching court event, and request the actual release entry when a durable record is needed. A narrow multi-day request can ask for existing release-log records within a stated range. It should not demand a custom list that the county does not keep.

The DeltaCo Sheriff Tip411 app does not fill this gap. Its official store descriptions advertise anonymous tips, alerts, and agency web or social content. They do not advertise an inmate lookup, recent-release list, or mugshot feature. The app is a communications channel, not release proof.

Delta County Release Court Trail

Delta's 94th District Court handles misdemeanors punishable by no more than one year, felony first appearances and preliminary examinations, and many bond events. The 47th Circuit Court holds the felony trail after bindover. A bond clue may therefore appear in District Court while the later felony judgment appears in Circuit Court.

The official 94th District Court page identifies its local case and bond role.

Delta County District Court release and bond record source

The court source helps place the legal trigger in the correct Delta County docket before the jail exit record is requested.

The MiCOURT case search can show case number, court, parties, status, charge, disposition, judgment or sentence events, bond events, and docket entries. Its online data is informational. A certified judgment, dismissal or acquittal order, bond order, or discharge order is the durable court source.

Delta County court release record search in MiCOURT

The court selector helps trace the legal event, while the Sheriff's release entry remains the proof that jail processing ended.

Does a court release order prove the person walked out? Not by itself. The order explains the legal authority, but another case, hold, or transfer can change the physical outcome.

Delta County Release Agency Checks

MI-VINE provides free custody and court-event information through VINELink and by phone at 800-770-7657. Registration may offer phone, email, text, app, or TTY notices. Telephone alerts use a four-digit PIN, and the recipient enters the PIN followed by # to acknowledge the call. Unanswered calls may repeat for up to 72 hours. That retry period is not a Delta County 72-hour release list.

Federal and immigration checks use separate sources. The BOP Inmate Locator covers federal prisoners from 1982 forward and can show a release date with “Released” or “Not in BOP Custody.” Those labels mean BOP no longer holds the person, not that no other agency does. BOP form BP-A714 can document the release method and whether the destination was the community or another detainer.

Federal BOP release status search for a Delta County person

The federal locator uses agency-limited status language, which must not be read as proof that every form of custody or supervision ended.

ICE's Online Detainee Locator System accepts an exact nine-digit A-number and country of birth, or exact name and country of birth with an optional birth date. ICE says the locator can include people released from its custody within about 60 days. A miss is inconclusive. Release may also carry check-in duties and an active immigration case. No official local ICE contract or detention center was identified in Delta County.

USMS handles federal pretrial custody but owns no detention facilities and offers no public person locator like BOP. Delta County falls within the Western District of Michigan, so a federal docket and agency-limited custody check may be needed before the BOP trail begins.

Delta County Release Status Compared

Each system answers a narrow question. First identify the agency whose custody is being tested. Then find that agency's exit or status record and check any receiving agency or supervision that follows.

SystemBest public startWhat proves releaseKey limit
Delta County jailJail phone and MI-VINESheriff release or transfer entryNo public roster or archive exists.
MDOCOTISDate Paroled, discharge certificate, or MDOC recordOTIS does not cover jail-only stays.
Federal BOPBOP locatorReleased result and BP-A714 when availableExit from BOP does not rule out other custody.
ICEODLSRelease paperwork or ERO confirmationExact matching and a short post-release window affect results.
Delta courtsMiCOURTCertified order or judgmentThe legal order does not prove physical exit.

A paroled person is released from prison but still under MDOC supervision. A probationer may be in the community without a prior prison term. An absconder status alleges a failure to report or inability to locate the person while supervision remains active. None of those labels should be reduced to a simple free-or-held conclusion.

Delta County Release Facility History

The current Delta County Correctional Facility is a 156-bed jail with 28 full-time correction officers. Local reporting records the inmate move from the old jail to 2800 College Avenue on June 14, 2019, while the current county page confirms today's facility details.

The official Delta County facility page is the current source for jail facts and public contact information.

Delta County Correctional Facility release contact page

The page's lack of a roster or release-feed link supports the records-request and named-person verification route.

This history helps when an older Delta County release record bears a different jail address. The older location does not make the record false, and the current facility address should not be projected back onto an earlier custodial episode. Use the record date to identify which location and custodian context applies.

Capacity is not a release count. Delta County has published no annual release volume, bookings-per-year total, average stay, or daily-population figure in the official sources reviewed. Those values cannot be inferred from 156 beds.

Delta County Release Clean Slate

Michigan's set-aside rules can change whether a case remains public. Under MCL 780.621d, application waiting periods are measured from the latest relevant event, which may include sentencing, probation completion, parole discharge, or the end of imprisonment. Eligibility, offense limits, and history rules still apply.

Michigan's automatic Clean Slate process began April 11, 2023. The State Court Administrative Office summary explains that an eligible felony can use a ten-year period running from sentencing or MDOC release, whichever is later. Eligible misdemeanors can use a seven-year period from sentence. A set-aside generally moves the conviction into retained nonpublic status.

A result that disappears from MiCOURT is therefore not proof that no Delta County custody or release occurred. Court filters, confidentiality, record age, and set-aside law can all explain a miss. The right fallback is the lawful record custodian, not a broad claim based on one search screen.

Delta County Release Facilities

Two facilities require different search routes. The Delta County Correctional Facility is the adult county jail. Its releases may go to the community, supervision, MDOC, another county, federal custody, or immigration custody. Call 906-786-3633, then use MI-VINE, court records, or FOIA as the event requires.

Bay Pines Center is an MDHHS secure juvenile residential treatment and detention facility for court-ordered female youth ages 12 through 20. Adult jail, OTIS, booking-photo, and released-inmate methods do not apply. Authorized participants should use counsel, the juvenile court, MDHHS case contacts, or another authorized case channel.

A public absence in a juvenile matter is expected and proves nothing. Youth names, images, allegations, and placement details should not be drawn from unofficial sources.
