A Delta County Correctional Facility release can end in the community or in another custodial system. Bond, time served, a completed sentence, dismissal, acquittal, probation, or another court order may allow a person to leave the jail for the community. The criminal case may still be open after bond. Probation can also continue after the jail stay, so physical release is not always the end of court or supervision duties.

A transfer is different. Movement to the Michigan Department of Corrections, another county, the United States Marshals Service, the Federal Bureau of Prisons, or immigration custody ends the Delta County jail episode but does not establish freedom from custody. 2. Call the Delta County Correctional Facility at 906-786-3633. Ask whether the jail still holds the named person or recorded a release or transfer.
3. Check MiCOURT for the legal event. The 94th District Court handles misdemeanors, bail, and early felony events. Felony cases after bindover continue in the 47th Circuit Court.
4. Request the existing jail release or transfer entry through Delta County FOIA when durable proof is needed.
5. If the entry names a receiving agency, continue with that agency. A transfer must never be restated as a community release.

Delta County Correctional Facility Bond Release

Delta County uses two bond-payment routes. A third-party bond is handled at the 94th District Court, 310 Ludington Street, during its published weekday hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sheriff-processed bond payments use a Canteen kiosk in the Sheriff's lobby. That lobby kiosk is available around the clock.

The kiosk accepts cash bills and Mastercard or Visa debit and credit cards. It does not accept coins, checks, or money orders. The Sheriff cannot make change. Vendor fees vary, and an overpayment is placed in the incarcerated person's account. These payment rules explain how a bond can be funded, but payment is not the same as completed release. Identity checks, court processing, or another hold may still affect the outcome.

The Sheriff's official bond instructions should be checked before payment. Afterward, call the jail for the agency-limited status and obtain the release entry if a documented exit time is needed.

The Sheriff's published contact is the direct route for a current agency-status question. The records request goes to the county FOIA coordinator. Keep those roles separate: a phone response can help with an immediate check, while a written responsive record provides a more durable account of release type, time, and transfer destination.

Release hours, the exit door, a family waiting area, weekend or holiday processing, gate money, and outgoing-property procedures were not published on the official pages reviewed. Call before traveling. Do not infer release logistics from visiting or property-intake rules.

Delta County Correctional Facility Facts

The official correctional facility page describes an adult county jail operated by the Delta County Sheriff's Office. It lists a capacity of 156 beds and 28 full-time correction officers. Jail Administrator Lt. Jeff Vallier is named on the county page. Capacity and staffing are facility facts, not release statistics. They cannot be converted into annual booking totals, release volume, or an average length of stay.

The county also states that overcrowding prevents acceptance of sentenced people from courts outside Delta County. This operational point does not identify who was released or transferred. A named-person check must still use the jail, MI-VINE, court trail, and a release record.

Its published facts support the contact and capacity details, but the page does not supply a live roster or recent-release archive.

Delta Facility Records Before 2019

The present Delta County Correctional Facility opened in June 2019. Local reporting on the opening says incarcerated people moved from the old jail on June 14, 2019. The current county facility page confirms the present address and operation.

This history matters when an older booking or release document bears a prior jail location. It does not change the record custodian or prove a current status. Describe the person, approximate admission period, and any known booking or case number in a narrow FOIA request. The custodian can identify the existing record without treating an old address as a different agency.
